Back again!!its been a while!!well the past few weeks have really been about figuring out the technical aspects of this project. Assessments are fast appraoching..less than a week til the xmas hols and then assessments are right when we get back. So I really need to get these things wrapped up. The main 'difficulty' I have been working on is joining the half balls together so that the seam is not noticable. It sounds easy to do..but its actually not. very annoying. I'm getting fustrated at this stage because I think I have it..and then the ball falls apart or something like that! another problem im having is the halves losing their shape before I get to join them properly. I have bought a big sponge to they have something to rest on and it has helped a bit. but not much. Here are some pics of what Ive been doing.
This is a piece I made using one half mold. As you can see there are gaps along the seam where I tried to join and it and fit the two halves together. I want the whole piece to be one continuous ball.

This is the largest ball that I made. I was really pleased with it. Until it fell apart.

Someone suggested that I tried using a plastic bag or a sheet, place it in the mold and pull the sheet so that the ball moves as I am making it so that it is all made in one go. This was working well until I got to the very end when I realised it was impossible to finish it!!its hard to explain. I should of takin pics..but I didnt.

As you can see..the method I just tried to explain does not work. I lose the neatness and the crisp edges I achieve when I use just the mold. It is also very awkward way of working! I have also done alot of glaze testing the last few weeks aswell. I like where I am going with my glazing ideas. As a plan on having two 'families' of spheres, I want to do two different types of glazing.

Thats all for now :) x x x x
